What is School Direct?
School Direct is a graduate teacher training course that has been designed by groups of schools, in collaboration with a university. The training course allows trainee teachers to access practical, hands-on training and education based in good schools across the country.
The Esk Valley Alliance works with York St John University and delivers a year long course which leads to qualified teacher status (QTS) and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).
The Alliance covers a large geographical area in the coastal and rural areas of North Yorkshire. We are able to offer School Direct Initial Teacher Training in most of our partner primary schools across our alliance.
This route is school based and is open to all graduates. It is funded by tuition fees paid by the trainee, who may be eligible for a bursary.
